HuntPack – Privacy policy
Last updated: 7 October 2026
HuntPack is a map app for hunting teams. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and what you can do about it.
Who is responsible
HuntPack is developed and run by a private developer in Norway. Contact: mareritt@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account: your email address (for signing in with a one-time code), your name and your phone number. Your name is shown to your team. Your email and phone number are used so team members can invite you.
- Location: when you turn on Share my location, the app sends your position to your team, also when the app is closed or not in use. When you tap Send, your position is sent once. Positions are used to show you on the team map and to draw your track.
- Battery level: sent together with your position, so your team can see if your phone is running low.
- What you add: marks (stands, sightings, shots and so on), boundaries, maps you add for the team, messages to go to a spot, and hunt day reports (hours, animals seen and shot).
The app does not show ads, does not track you across other apps and websites, and does not sell or share your information for advertising.
Who can see it
Your name, position, track, battery level and what you add are visible to the members of the hunting teams you are on. During a hunt day, only the hunters taking part are shown. If you turn on Share with all my teams, your position goes to all your teams.
Location shared by text message link
In wildlife incident teams (for example after a collision with an animal), a team member can send a link by text message from their own phone to the person who reported the incident, asking for the exact place.
- Your location is shared only if you open the link and tap Share my location, and only once.
- The location is linked to that incident and shown as a mark on the map for the team handling it. It is kept with the incident until the team deletes it.
- Your phone number is not stored by HuntPack. The text message is sent from the team member's own phone.
- The link expires after 3 hours and cannot be used again after your location has been shared.
Services we use
- Supabase stores the data and handles sign-in.
- Expo delivers app updates.
- MET Norway (api.met.no) gets an approximate position (rounded) to return the wind forecast.
- Kartverket, Geonorge and Miljødirektoratet deliver map images. Like any website, they receive your device's network address when the map loads.
- Maps your team adds may come from other map services.
How long we keep it
- Position history is deleted after 30 days.
- When a hunt day ends, a simplified track and the distance for each hunter are kept with the day's report until an admin deletes the day.
- Everything else is kept until you or your team delete it, or until you delete your account.
Your rights and deleting your account
You can stop sharing your location at any time in the menu. You can delete your account in the app under Menu → Account → Delete account, or ask us to do it (see Delete your account). Deleting your account removes your profile, positions, tracks, messages and hunt day reports. Marks you added stay on the team map without your name.
You have the right to access, correct and delete your information, and to complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet). Contact us at mareritt@gmail.com.
Children
HuntPack is meant for adults taking part in hunting and is not directed at children.
